Whats Happening this weekend  4/5th:

Holidays well and truly over a busy weekend coming up for members- so lots of Race Reports EXPECTED!!!

Sunday 5th 

Glasgow 10K and 1/2 Marathon

Richard Barrie is runnng the 1/2 whilst Dave Smart is doing the 10k- have a great race guys- looks like its going to be warm so sun lotion a must.- Any one else runnng?

Keswick 10 Mile Fell Race

Kirsty Young after marshalling the Euro Duathlon Champs in Edinburgh on Saturday is heading to the Lakes to compete in a 10 mile fell race- good luck Kirsty.

Saturday 4th

Bealach Mor

Julian Gascoigne and John Rea taking on the UK’s biggest road climb at 2053ft (626m) from sea level in just 6mls (10k) as part of the 90 mile course. Good luck guys 

Great North Swim

Martin Waterhouse is once agian heading to the lakes to compete in this event- based on his training this year we are all looking forward to seeing a PB. Have a great swim and enjoy

Achnamara 10K 29/08/10

Wild Water Swimmers- TV stardom beckons

If you dont know a number of our open water swimmers were filmed swimming in Loch Leathan today for a relocation TV show " Escape to the Country"...Bafta's beckons me thinks!

Cycling TT Thursday 26 August - 7.00pm

The next TT will be on the last Thursday of the month which is the 26th August.  Start will be 7pm sharp at the Lochgilphead swimming pool car park.  Ideal time for testing yourself ahead of the Triathlon!

Port Ban Triathlon Sat. 07/08/10

Low key fun event this saturday pm in Port Ban - info on the forum, Team entries encouraged, OW swim, MTB and run and a BBQ after...great ...Well done Tim organising, fun, but tough event...which turned into a Duathlon due to the sea state and Jelly fish. Helensburgh Half Marathon 01/08/10

Richard is running this am in the Helensburgh half and is aiming for a PB as he steps up his preparation for the Inverness Marathon- good luck Richard -Race Report now published- PB way to go Richard well doneCool...its clearly all in the cake!

Durty Triathlon 31/07/10

Results now in- in the sprint distance the team of Hazel Manson, Ros Way and Brian Smith completed the course in 1:36:40, Peter Robertson completed the sprint in 1:23:33 (17th overall and 5th Vet) 

In the olympic distance team of Kirsty Young, Louise Cardwell and Aileen Gibson finshed in a time of 03:36:32.

Great Job Everyone

Matt in the borders to compete in the Olympic distance- but had a catastrophe at the satrt slicing his foot open on glass and required 5 stitiches. Kirsty competing as part of a team as the runner. Did MATCC have another team?

Ardcastle Team Triathlon 15/08/10 1.00pm

Yes a new club confined event in the format of open water swim, mountain bike and run ...but teams only.

So club members are to express their preference for a discipline/s and you will then be put into a team so we will have evenly balanced competition.

Eamonn is organizing, distances to be confirmed but is only likely to be relatively short . all followed by a summer BBQ and lots of fun. Post your preference on the link on the forum

Who is doing what this weekend?

Again not aware of anything- is everyone having more rest and holidays? .......although lots of running, swimming (great TT at Loch Coille Bharr on Tuesday) training and of course the Tour de France.

There is a rumour that Mad dog has packed his badminton racquets to take on holiday for some cross training......

Great London Swim 03/07/10

Martin Waterhouse took part in the first of the mass swim events in London docks and got a notable scalp in that he beat Duncan Goodhew in a time of about 26 mins  Cool....need a swim report and photos Martin

Edinburgh Womens Triathlon 27/06/10

Kirsty Young is competing in Dalkeith in this 400m swim, 10K cycle and 5 km run and is catching up with Michelle- have a great race Kirsty. Results now up - 10.13 swim, 22:56 Bike & 26:59 Run - 1:00:17- well done Kirsty.

Islay Triathlon 26/06/10

 Looks like a good turn out from the club to venture across the sound (early 7.00am) to enter this great community event. Lets hope there is not the swim lane controversy of last yearWink

Eamonn and Kerry swept the Board, claiming very impressive victories on Islay in the senior event. Kerry also won the fastest cycle award and Eamonn the fastest cycle and run categoriesCool.  Great day, great event and as always a some rough and tumble in the swim. Photos now in the Gallery

Cycle Races 19th & 20th June

Andy and Eamonn are competing in  The Lothian Flyer RR in Peebles on Saturday and the Davie Bell memorial super 6 on Sunday in Ayr. Good luck guys let us know how you get on.

Your web master has been informed that Andy completed the Cairngorm 100 last weekend in 5:18:59...good job!

Summer Solstice Ride Friday 18/06/10

The long range forecast is looking good, so don't forget the summer solstice Kilberry run on Friday, meet at the bikeshop at 7pm, everyone welcome, this is not a race and no-one will be left behind.  So if you enjoyed Arran then you should try this  local classic.  Great ride tonight, good to see so many folks out on what was a beautiful evening.  As the webmaster forgot to put any batteries in the camera there is no photographic record, so here's a link to my Garmin file instead.  http://connect.garmin.com/activity/37325272

Cairngorm 100 mile Sportive 12/06/10 

Julian Gascoigne and Dave Taylor heading up to Aviemore to descend and climb Cairngorm of and cover about 95 miles in between- have a good ride guys.

Julian completed the course in 06:03:19 and Dave in 06:58:33 - well done guys another "ton" under the wheels- tell us how it was?

Lochgoilhead Triathlon 12/06/10

Stephen and possibly Matt heading to the rest to take part in this fun reverse triathlon finishing with a nice swim across Loch Goil.

Stephen & Matt had a great race finishing 1st & 3rd respectively, with PBs in the 10k run and a swim which was not for the faint hearted across the Loch!

Bala Middle distance Triathlon 13/06/10

John Rea is once again heading down to Wales to tackle this 1/2 IM Tri - 2km swim, 78.5km bike and a 1/2 marathon to finish...go for that PB John- Johns Time now posted:

Swim 41:33 - Bike - 2:54:25, Run 1:40:22 - total time include transitions 5:19:26. Way to go John, that is a great resultCool

Round Arran circuit 13/06/10

A good sized Peloton of club members heading over to Arran on Sunday to enjoy a leisurely 50 mile ride...just make sure you do not miss the last ferry (if you want to go see details on the forum). Have a great time guys and Girls and get some photos!

Coniston Old Man Triathlon 6th June

Tims race report now poasted- a tale of demon descending, near misses and the odd puncture!

Tim swam the lake, scaled the heights on both the bike and run taking 7:16:48 to complete this testing 1/2 IM knocking nearly an hour off his time from last year, congratulations Tim Cool

Coniston Old Man Triathlon 6th June

Tim Jackson is once again taking on this 1/2 Iron man + Triathlon - 2000m OW swim in Consiton, 70km bike up and down a couple of passes, Wrynose and Kirskstone (some  6& 7% gradients) and a 20k fell run including old Man of Coniston, wetherlam and Swirl How. Good luck Tim have a great raceSmile

Matt Donald in contrast is going short and fast, competing once again in the biggest traithlon in Scotland at Stirling University. 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run...go Matt we want to see some great split times and a PBWink

Open Water Easdale swim Sunday June 6th

The OW arm of the club are heading to Easdale on Sunday 6th June to swim in the fantastic old slate quarries.  There are several crystal clear pools, and some great spots for diving etc.  Its a great place and very well suited to families too, meet at 1.45pm ish  for 2 pm ferry.   Contact Lorna MacGregor and check the OW swim page on the web site for more infoCool

Results now on the MoK web site. Great performances by club members topped by Peter Robertson winning the first Veteran Prize in the 10k in a time of 40.01. A few photos in the Gallery but we need more and race reports...What a great event and a great day, well done everyoneSmile

Kirsty and Dave both completed the 115km cycle route in a prelim time of 5:02:00 and 4:44:00. Well done  folks my bums just sore thinking about all that time in the saddlle!

Etape Caledonia- Results

Kevin (4:39:18), Joe (4:13:04) and Eamonn (4:08:37) succesful negotiated the perthshire countryside and it looks like from the times that there were some breakaways near the end. Whats the story boys?

Who is doing what this weekend - What a busy weekend!

10 under the Ben 15/05/10

This top mountain bike endurance race sees teams and individuals competing to see who can complete the most laps under the shadow of Ben Nevis  in the 10 hours. Andrew Wylie is competing in the Solo category, have a great ride Andy look forward to hearing all about it.

Solway Sportive 16/05/10

Dave Taylor and Kirsty Young will be competing in this  timed event - there is a 30km hilly route and a 115km taking in a beautiful section of the north Solway coast in south west Scotland. Good luck folks, get us a photo.

Caledonian Etape 16/05/10

81 miles of the rolling pertshire coutryside and hopefully no carpet tacks this year. Eamonn, Joe and Kevin (i think - let me know if this is wrong) are taking part- have a good one guys and dont forget to take some photos.

Inveraray Jail Break 09/05/10

The second year of what is now a classic hill running race. Only 900+feet of climbing from the start line to the top. weather gods are looking great again- good luck everyone, remember to enjoy the view at the top.Cool  9as you get your breath back) Who is doing it this year?

Slekirk Triathlon 09/05/10

Stephen and Matt are heading to the Boarders to take part in this olympic distance event and it is understood that Stephen is quaking hearing about the hilly bike course and his fear of demon descentsYell, unlike Matt who drops like a stoneWink

Oban Hospital ABCD 10k

Richard & Tina (time up date- Richard 45.45, Tina 54.10) and Matt and Kirsty took part in this hospital 10k and recorded some very respectable times. Matt posted a sub 40 min, just missing 3rd place and Kirsty in her first run over the distance for some time did a very good 53 minutes.  Tina and Richards times not yet in, although Richard put the best sprint finish in of the day, Well done folksSmile
